There’s nothing like a December wedding in Hawaii and Andrea and Zach now know that first-hand. November, December, and January tend to be a little bit less busy here on the Big Island. It’s the perfect time to plan your special event. The beaches are less crowded and you will have a lot more options when it comes to venues, hotels, and vendors.

The only downside is that it does fall right in the middle of the rainy season, but that doesn’t mean it rains every day or even that there’s a lot more rain than any other time of year. Most likely, your big day will be rain-free. After all, it’s always nice here in Hawaii!

Andrea (Andi) and Zach’s wedding was held at the stunning Four Seasons Hualalai, a five-star beachfront resort on the Big Island’s northern Kona-Kohala coast. Kumukea Beach is just a few miles away, which is one of our favorite beaches on the entire island and the hotel is surrounded by tons of tropical greenery, which we love for photos!

We started the morning by capturing some “getting ready” shots of Andi with her bridal party. They were all wearing matching robes (even the little flower girl had one – so adorable!) before Andi changed into her gown; a simple, yet elegant, off-the-shoulder dress with a beautiful train. It was the perfect choice for a sophisticated outdoor Hawaiian wedding!

Before we wrapped up the pre-wedding photos, we made sure to get some detail shots of special items like the bride’s veil, the wedding invitation, her hand-written vows, and even her perfume bottle (it was too gorgeous, we couldn’t resist capturing it). These photos are so important to include in the gallery because they help tell the complete story of their big day.

The groom’s brother performed the ceremony and it was definitely a tear-jerker. You could practically see the love radiating off of Andi and Zach and everyone there was enraptured from start to finish. It was beautiful and we loved capturing every moment of it.

After the “I do’s” and the kiss, the couple wanted photos with all of their friends and family. We got lots of great portraits that will become heirlooms that they will be able to treasure forever.

Then, we snuck away for a little bit down to the lava rocks to take some “just married” photos. We love the contrast between the black rock and Andi’s white dress and Zach’s light grey suit. It’s so hard to pick a favorite… so we won’t!

The sun was starting to set, which meant it was time to start the party! We stuck around for a little while to get some photos of the couples walking into their reception venue and their loved ones making pre-dinner toasts, but then it was time for us to go so the couple could focus on enjoying their guests and their evening.

We loved being a part of Andi and Zach’s big day and we had so much fun getting to know them. They’re a beautiful couple with a beautiful love story.

What we’re most proud of is how much the bride loved her photos. Of course, we always aim to blow the couple away with their photos, but we’re especially happy that Andi loved her photos because as she shared in this Instagram post, she rarely likes photos of herself.

We’re humans, so we totally get it. It’s not always comfortable being in front of the camera (which is why we like behind on the other side of it, to be honest) so this feels like a really big win for us! You can tell by the number of photos she shared on her Instagram that she really means it and that just warms our hearts so much.
